Five Decorating Tips for a Cozy Autumnal Home

It's that time of year again. The time for pumpkin spice donuts and lattes. Crisp cool walks and playing in the fallen leaves. The only thing left is to create a cozy autumnal atmosphere in our home. So, lets dive into the ways you can decorate your home this fall.

Incorporating Fall Colors

There are so many ways to incorporate those golden yellows, burnt oranges and reds, and rusty browns into your home. Don't go break the bank to decorate your home. Use practical home decor. Swap out decor and buy things that can be used as decor and in everyday life.
For your living room, swapping out your summer pillows and throws will start to bring that autumnal feel into your home. To bring on more coziness add an autumnal inspired area rug and drapes. And for an added touch you can purchase premade floral arrangements and wreaths or use this time to do a fun fall home decor craft. You can get your kids involved by helping you shop for different floral picks and bouquets. This tip can be carried on for the rest of your home, including artwork and family photos.

Porch & Entryway

Your front porch and entryway are the first part of your home that will be seen by family and friends. Make your entrance warm and inviting by adding lots of pumpkins and mums along your porch, door, or stairs. No matter how big or small your entryway is, there is always something more that can be done, even if it's just adding a layered door mat and hanging a wreath on the door. For that cozy atmosphere bring out some fairy lights. They can be wrapped around the railing, hung or added onto the decor pieces. Don't your fall sign!

Tablescapes

Dressing up your dining room or kitchen island can be as simple as creating a fall tablescape. It can be as clean or intricate as you want it. Adding bows, ribbon, or wreaths to the back of the chairs gives more life to the room. Now you're ready for a dinner party.

Load Up on the Pumpkins

It's pumpkin season my friends. It wouldn't be fall without pumpkins. For those of us that love to decorate early, faux pumpkins are the way to go. You can always add in real pumpkins later on into the season.

Money Saving Tip

DIY will be your best friend when it comes to decorating for any holiday or season. Pretty much any decor can be made for a lot less from the comfort of your home. You can make your own wreaths. The dollar store and arts and craft stores have plenty of supplies. If you want to make your own pillow covers Walmart sales fabric at reasonable prices. You can buy them precut, two yards a pack for $4.99. Joann's always has tons of discounted fabric in the back of their store and discounted remnants by the cutting station. If you know how to sew that is a big plus, but if you don't there are a couple of good no-sew options. Hot glue or cutting slits into the ends of the fabric all around and tying them together. It's personal preference. Always shop your home first. Find ways to reuse what you have.
