Six Easy Steps to a Clean Home: Morning Cleaning Routine

A good night routine can set you up for success the next day, but if I am being honest, I am too tired at the end of the day to conduct my whole night routine. This is where having a simple and effective morning routine comes into play to save the day.

Having an easy-go-to-morning cleaning routine is great for those who do not have a lot of time in the mornings. You may have to drop your kids at school or take your husband to work if y’all share a car like my husband and I do.

Wake Up Early

I always wake up before my family. I am naturally an early riser, so even if I did not have anything to do, I would be up. Waking up before everyone else ensures you have more time to care for yourself before caring for your home and family. During this time is usually check emails, go on social media, write in my prayer journal, and or read a book for 15 minutes. Just do something that makes you feel good.

Tidy Up

I began my cleaning routine by picking up my home. It does not take me much time. Everything has a home, so I know exactly where to take it. It also helps that we live in a tiny duplex apartment. Sometimes I take a bag or basket and group things together and carry it to the room the things belong in.

Washing The Dishes

After I tidy up, I have about 5 to 10 minutes before my son wakes up. Some mornings look quite different and that is okay. Give yourself some grace.

I must get breakfast going. Most mornings we have chocolate chip pancakes because it is a fan favorite in our house. Of course, it makes zero since to be making a mess while I am trying to get the house looking decent before we must leave. Before I start my pancake mix if ill up my sink with soapy water on one side and rinsing water on the other. As my pancakes are cooking, I am washing the dishes that I am using. We do not have a dishwasher, but if you do, lucky you.

Wipe Everything Down

Using your favorite all-purpose cleaner, take your gloves, rags, and duster on a trip around your home. I use a homemade cleaner of water and vinegar. Store bought cleaners give me headaches. Wipe down your stove, countertops, tables, dressers, sinks, and toilet. Switch out your cleaning cloth when necessary.

Vacuum, Sweep, Mop

The second to last thing I do is clean the floors. Depending on the day they may just need a quick sweep. If they need more, I will use my vacuum mop. It cleans the floor in one swift motion. It is such a life saver.

Take Out the Trash

Cleaning is not complete until the trash is out. You can leave this part for your husband though! Dump bathroom trashcans and other small trashcans around your home. I pile all the trash next to the kitchen trashcan or put it all outside the door for my husband to grab on our way out.

Well, my cozy nesters, this is it! These are the five simple steps that I use to keep my home clean and tidy. I hope you enjoyed this step-by-step cleaning routine. Remember to give yourself grace. Every morning may look different. It is okay if you do not get everything done.
